What is Local SEO?

A search engine like Google has its own directory of local business listings and generates local search results from that list.

Google My Business If you are doing Local SEO for a business with a physical location where customers can visit (e.g. dentist) or a business traveling to visit customers (e.g. plumber) You must use / business /).

When it comes to localized search results, Google uses three main factors to determine rank:

  • Distance
  • Recognition
  • Let’s take a look;
  • Relevance

Relevance is how well a local business matches what a caller is looking for. To make sure the business is doing everything it can to be relevant to the searchers, make sure that the business information is filled in completely and correctly.

Google uses your geographic location to better serve you local results. Local search results are extremely sensitive to proximity, and this refers to the caller’s location and / or the location specified in the query (if the searcher included one).

Organic search results, as well as local results, are sensitive to the searcher’s position.

Google is looking for ways to reward well-known businesses in the real world. In addition to making a business stand out offline, Google also looks at some online factors to determine local rankings, such as:

The number of Google reviews a local business receives and the sensitivity of those reviews have a noticeable effect on ranking in local results.

“Business quote” or “business listing” is a web-based reference for a local business “NAP” (name, address, phone number) on a localized platform (Yelp, Acxiom, YP, Infogroup, Localeze, etc.). .

Local rankings are affected by the number and consistency of local business citations. Google pulls data from a wide variety of sources to consistently build its local business directory. When Google finds multiple consistent references to a business’s name, location, and phone number, it strengthens Google’s “confidence” in the validity of that data.

This then leads Google to rank the business with a higher trust rating. Google also uses information from other sources on the web, such as links and articles, as a ranking factor.

Organic Results

Since Google also takes into account the position of a website in organic search results when determining local rankings, practices in SEO also apply to local SEO.

In my next article, I will try to explain the in-page applications that will help Google and users better understand your content.
